Reserve your .ch domain name
A .ch domain name is a must for any website wishing to gain visibility in Switzerland. The .ch extension strengthens your image of being local to Swiss residents, which boosts their trust in you. A Swiss domain name is therefore a strategic asset in joining one of the most interesting e-commerce markets in Europe.
About the .ch extension
The .ch extension is based on its Latin name, Confoederatio Helvetica (Swiss Confederation). It was created in 1987 for the entire Swiss territory. Each of its cantons can therefore use a .ch domain name.
Swiss domain names are managed by the registration service SWITCH, in collaboration with the Federal Office of Communication (OFCOM). However, since 2015, the sale of .ch domain names has been entrusted to commercial partners like OVHcloud.
Registering a .ch domain name does not require a Swiss postal address. However, you must be able to provide one within 30 days if requested by the SWITCH registry.
Why choose a .ch extension?
Almost one in two Swiss people report shopping online several times a month. When ordering over the Internet, Swiss Internet users pay particular attention to certain factors:
- protection of personal data
- payment in Swiss francs
- guaranteed delivery to Switzerland
A Swiss domain name is seen as proof of legitimacy and represents a significant advantage for your SEO.
Choosing a .ch domain name, geolocates your website to be as close as possible to your customers.
