Registration requirements
Each .ie domain name application is verified by the .ie registry to ensure that the applicant has a legitimate link to Ireland.

Reserve your .ie domain name
Base yourself in Ireland with a local .ie domain name, reserved for Irish companies and trademarks.
A .ie domain is a testament to your proximity to the people of Ireland. These two letters will help you win the trust of your customers and set you apart from your international competitors.
About the .ie extension
The .ie extension was created in 1988 under ICANN’s authority. Since the .ir extension is reserved for Iran, the .ie extension was chosen for the Republic of Ireland’s country code top-level domain.
Foreign business entities can obtain a .ie domain name by providing proof of a link to Ireland. The Registry managing .ie domains is the IE Domain Registry.
Despite Brexit, Northern Ireland still benefits from the EU single market and customs union. It is therefore still possible to purchase an Irish domain name in euros.
Why choose this domain name extension?
The .ie extension is reserved for Irish brands and entities or foreign companies with a proven link to Ireland. These domains convey an image of trust and legitimacy in the Irish market.
Merchant sites with a .ie extension can be offered in English or Irish. However, all offer default delivery in Ireland and display their prices in euros. Irish people are therefore more likely to place an order on a .ie domain than on a .com website.
The .ie extension brings another advantage to websites written in Irish (Gaelic) - you can include special characters (e.g. á, é, í, ó, ú) in the domain name.
